The Taylor University Department of English congratulates alumnus Jordan Zandi (’07) upon his being named the winner of The Kathryn A. Morton Prize in Poetry from Sarabande Books. Sarabande will publish Zandi’s first collection, Solarium. The contest judge was Henri Cole, critically-acclaimed poet and recent Pulitzer Prize finalist. Cole praised Zandi’s debut, writing:

Solarium is a completely original gem of a book…there is a sweet spirit haunting [Zandi’s] guileless poems. His inner world is always interacting with the outer world, and as a result everything seems to be shining.”

Upon graduating from Taylor, Jordan Zandi earned an MFA in creative writing at Boston University, where he was the recipient of a Robert Pinsky Global Fellowship to Bolivia. He was also named an Elizabeth Leonard Teaching Fellow in Creative Writing at the Boston Arts Academy. Zandi currently teaches at Bunker Hill Community College in the greater Boston area.
